Sounds like cool times ahead - The Register has a summary of Developer comments on the sneak preview of the next version of MAC OS X - "Jaguar[Apple Codename] gets an overwhelmingly positive verdict" was the surprised comment from The Register. Oh and somewhere in here was a phrase to avoid, but other wise well worth the read - I for one am looking forward to the next update and just wondering how much it will cost.... I guess this shouldn't surprise anyone, but The Register notes that MS has lost a French case in which they pirated someone elses software. What I find interesting is that the normal Microsoft bashers missed the story. Oh, and for the record, as much as I dislike MS they do have the right to protect their product from illegal distrubtion and copying. Software Piracy is theft. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Well the trouble with the cam was caused by the freeware drivers for OS X. I guess you get what you pay for. Unfortunately there aren't many drivers for USB cams for OS X. Oh well, for now the deputies Laptop will power /cam2. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Tim, one of the guys from BB are doing the 40 Hour Famine and are running a webcam of the event - next weekend. This weekend I'm going around to show him how easy it is to set up your own little cam site. Once it's set up there will be a proper link to it. It will be a very welcome distraction from marking. Hmm, according to The Register the Messenger vulnerability is quite wide spread - so update now! [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Read about this MS Chat Control can lead to code execution don't think it would effect many people I know, but would be wise to update Messenger.

You may note that the /cam2 is back online - although in greatly pixelated disappointment. I will wait and see how it looks in the morning with natural sunlight - but right now, I think I got a crappy one! [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Cornerball :: well a good night was had by just about all - our team came second. I did take the video camera tonight so maybe soon there will be a video to view - I might work on it tomorrow night, although I do have about million things I am supposed to mark so who knows. Although that does usually mean that I spend more time doing things other than what i should be. Man, one day I should grow up, I still act and think too much like I did when I was 16 [well, when it comes to somethings]! Maybe that is why I once was do effective stuff with youth. Or maybe I never was, maybe it's all been an illusion. I dunno. Damm work, it's making me doubt everything. And my focus has shifted so off God it's not funny, and this just makes it harder to cope with stuff. I just see everything as a problem which I can not solve - and that's the end, rather than seeing stuff as a problem I can't solve and then looking to God for a solution - which He has. So for those who pray, pray that I resolve issues with God and then get onto resolving issues with someone who I once treated like a friend but now just find I can't be friendly with for more that a few minutes before turning and trying to bite their head off. This term is always busy with Leadership Development Course and reports at work, I have just spent a bit of time using blogger to redesign the LDC site, although there is still a bit of work to do. However a little bit of work now will help me in the future by making it much easier to post updates - and I can do that from anywhere - maybe even on course! But we will have to wait and see.

Cornerball is tonight - a game of tag played with a medicine ball and using rules like netball re: movement. A lot of fun and revelry. Maybe even take the camera and make a nifty little movie out of it all - who knows. Guess you will just have to come back and see. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Well, I knew I liked Jars of Clay for some reason. Turns out they use MACs. Disappointing that their common christian background didn't get a mention, but I they do awesome music so visit their site and have a listen. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

People who know me sometimes wonder if I have family - well I do and this is my Father's Bush Band. Also if you are a All Saints watcher you may have noticed Dad's beard lurking in the back ground as an extra. Anyway, despite a lot of reluctance I better go to work. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Thanks toSourceforge and their webcam driver for OS X I can bring bjd.cam back to life. Once I buy a replacement for my green webcam - yeah, seems like Windows wasn't problem it was the cam itself.

I dunno why it worked the other day but I just used my purple cam and it worked fine fine fine. But the Dreaded Green Cam of Doom did not :( so since they are exactly the same something must be wrong with the green one. Oh well.

Checked the Strathfield site and they are still available!!!! [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Oh yeah, and telstra deny that they were ever even thinking of a price rise - "who us???", they said looking coy. Methinks they protest too much. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Apple annouced the new version of MAC OS X Codename: Jaguar - the offical site link says as much as The Register - with as much hype too. This is the press release which has a nice list of the highlights to come. Surely Apple is on the right track with this stuff.

Also The Register noted glimpses of a rack mounted Apple product coming soon. Sounds great! Now all the back room rack geeks can enjoy the zesty OS that is OS X. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

From: The Register - Apparently, the Peruvian government is considering a bill mandating open-source software for all public bureaux, it seems that MS has circulated a FUD communique calculated to frighten world and dog with images of collapsing domestic software markets, spiraling costs and systems migration nightmares. A Peruvian offical replies and slices and dices with great skill to reveal the internal inconsistencies, unsupportable claims and irrational conclusions which the MS flacks trade in. The first part of a two parter about the history of Apple and in particular where OS X came from - called Steve Jobs and the History of Cocoa it peels away the hype and reveals that "some of the most innovative goodies in OS X are actually mature, stable technologies that have been painstakingly developed over the past 15 years by Apple, NeXT Computer (which Apple acquired in December 1996), and the open source community as a whole. The real pleasure that is Mac OS X comes from the seamless integration of these technologies in a single desktop."

But the real gem comes next week: "In next week's conclusion, Simson Garfinkel and Michael Mahoney take you inside the secret mission, dubbed Star Trek, to port the Macintosh operating system to Intel-based hardware. Then they cover the port of the NeXT OS to the PowerPC, leading to the birth of Mac OS X" [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

Hot on the heals of robs Telstra price hike warning comes this piece of nastyness with Optus threatening to say "NO!" and pack up their bat, ball and broadband and go home - if they can't drop loss making CableTV and resell FOXTEL instead. Sounds like very uncertain times ahead in the Aussie world of broadband. Interesting comment about Telstra upping prices to make them more profitable, thus raising the share price and make them more attractive for selling off.

Which makes me think about the whole capitalist share market system - but that will have to wait for another time, I'm supposed to be writing a test which is to be done on Thursday - not a big test, just the HALF YEARLY ARGHHHHH!!!!!!! [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]

You gotta see it to believe it - and you shall.

I woke up this morning about 1030am after a night of BB Boys round for the FA Cup Final [I was going for Chelsea, who lost :( cos they sound like food!] and the place looks like a bomb hit it - there is food and, well anyway don't just take my word for it - in a few hours you will be able to see the scene of the crime for yourself.

Something to get my mind of the crap in my life for a while. [Comment] [GuestBook] [Archive]
