TP: Hi Brendan, look what’s doing with regard to this new Uniform thing?
B: Well it’s progressing
TP: I don’t think that’s good enough. A certain leader has made comments along the line that it won’t be happening.
B: look, I’m sure you misunderstood them, all my leaders support one another, and certain they wouldn’t say that without talking to me and encouraging me in my role first. However I can assure everyone that the New Uniform will be coming into effect.
TP: But this person implied that you have done this before and that you have these new ideas but nothing ever comes of them.
B: like I said I am sure you misheard that Leader, I can’t imagine that any leader would be so disloyal as to say those things. And if they did that is very hurtful and inappropriate. Anyway as to the timing of the change, the plan was to have the uniform going by the Start of Term 2. This may not happen. It all -
TP: but surely this is what the person meant, you make promises and don’t come through.
B: First of all, I want it to be made perfectly clear, that yes, I did say the aim was to get the uniform going in Term 2, and that is still the aim. Now this person, if they had talked to me, would then know, and I suggest that they DO KNOW, that I am waiting for a response from Jeff Hockey, BBA are looking at stocking a shirt for “informal occasions” which I think will do a great job. I have talked to Jeff about getting the company name sewn on and he was to talk to the supplier about this. Now these things take time and I am waiting for him to get back to me. I am hoping that this will keep the cost down as much as possible and solve the problem of availability. Otherwise we would have to purchase and stock extra shirts. This would be a drain on the companies resources and mean an increase in fees.
TP: Ok, so that’s the shirts, what about trousers or shorts or whatever?
B: I am sure the choice was navy blue trousers which David has been encouraging the Boys to purchase during this term as the first phase in the change to the new uniform. I haven’t had a chance to follow up on this but I know that David will have got straight onto it and that the Boys will be buying new trousers - if needed - ready for the first day back next term.
TP: That’s fine but what about other concerns such as badg-
B: Look I have to go soon, so I just want to say that badges, ranks, Special occasion uniform - all these things are still not finalised, however the change to a new uniform was supported by almost everyone - the change will happen, these other problems are solvable - let me finish - and will be solved, anyone who says otherwise is just trying to undermine and subvert the will of the Boys and Parents. I am awaiting final news from Jeff regarding price and availability but I can say that at the moment the shirt is $20 and the cap will cost $15, and so, along with David I say buy those navy blue trousers (if you don’t have them yet) and the new shirts will be available next term.
