BIRTHDAYS
Wed 29 - Jim Hogg - 25.

Three Weekends in One!

Well that's what it must have felt like to some. Last weekend a lot of BB things were happening and as always The Paper had reporters on the spot at each one.

Gold D of E Award Presentation

Once again 38th saved the day. At the last minute Jeff Hockey turned to 38th to step in when all others failed.

The call came Wednesday night to help set up and put away chairs for the Gold Duke OF Edinburgh Award Presentation.

David Fletcher, Matty F, Rollo and Warren Yu answered the call, and leaving at 7am, set out to do a great job despite a number of hiccups caused by other people - well done guys.

Indoor Cricket Comp

Run in the afternoon the guys rushed straight out from the city to Girraween to join us as we went in the first ever State Indoor Cricket Comp.

In sweltering conditions and a very hard pitch, four companies took part in the fight for the title.

Old Toongabbie, Blacktown and Tamworth companies were our opponents. We had to give Old Toongabbie a few of our guys.

All of us played well and a special mention must go to Steve Chensee who showed full commitment with a pearler of a diving, caught and bowled attempt - unfortunately although he could feel the ball hit his hand "it just didn't catch it - I don't know why - but it didn't".

THE STATS: 92nd 1st Undefeated, 38th 2nd lost once, 189th 3rd, 164th 4th. In Attendance: David F, Matty F, Andrew R, Steve C, Warrick, Warren, Chris, Jeffrey, Simon, Daniel and Heath [Simons friend].

Founders' Day Parade

Held in Parramatta this year the 1997 Founders' Day Parade and Church Service saw about 600 Boys and Parents from all over the State gather to celebrate, praise and worship God for his work in Brigade.

The Band from Toongabbie Baptist church played - including David Houghton on Piano and Steve C and Matty F on vocals. Daniel Formosa and Chris Cooper also attended with Daniel helping to set up and pack up.

State Meeting

This weekend was also the yearly meeting of the State Council - a meeting of officers from across the state to discuss BB in NSW.

News of interest is the opening of Armenian, Samoan, Tongan and Chinese companies. As well as a new company starting at Moorebank.

And, whilst BB will remain BB, we can expect to see closer links with GB as time goes on.

Prayer Points

Local and international, answers will be included as they come to hand.

+ Matthew Shaw doing his HSC.
Timetable below:

FRI 31 OCT 2U Geo

+ Please pray for 33rd W.A.(Thornlie) Company at Thornlie Church of Christ - in relation to a) their direction for the rest of this year b) an increase of numbers to make the company viable c) an increase in the number and commitment of officers and helpers in the company. This church is threatening to close down BB there because the numbers are not big enough.

Next Year !

In about a month the Seniors and Officers will be heading off on our annual Seniors Retreat. One of the things we do there is plan the activities for next year.

If there is something you'd like to do but we haven't - or something we do you don't like - then now is the time to let us know as we start planning for next year.

In this picture you see Warrick Levett dicing with death as he rappels - abseiling frontwards. Do you want to do this?

Next year you too
will get the chance!

James Gibson - Evangelistic
Extravaganza!

James Gibson - an evangelist from America will be coming to visit on Thursday 13th November.

All are welcome and it will be great night. AB, No.1 and ourselves will all be providing entertainment on the night as well as James Gibson giving a brief talk. Refreshments will also be provided.

This will be a great night of meeting together - so make sure you invite your family along.

The Play will be performed at the James Gibson meeting. It looks like it will be an excellent production. If we all work together on this it will be fun and successful.

Make sure you encourage each other and especially Rhys, David H and David F for their efforts in getting your ideas into a scriptable form.
